So today I felt good to go for a road ride along Hwy 99 from home to say maybe...Alice Lake. Weather was sunny and warm, I did some Yoga and Physio for about an hour and the bike was lubed and ready to go.
Started out by doing a warm up lap around town to get the knees lubricated in there own sort of way and then I would hit the Highway!
On the way to the Hwy was briefly interrupted by almost getting hit by a pickup truck going through a 4 way intersection in which I had the right of way (No stop sign for this me) However my defensive driving skills came into play and I was able to avoid getting into an incident with the white pickup truck. I did shake my head in disbelief at the driver which was followed by the Testosterone fueled "Fuck You"
OK guy you go with that and I hope that somehow puts your head in a good space to avoid your ego from saying I should have admitted my mistake, but then again maybe I should have not shaken my head.
Stops to make you think...
I eventually got to the hwy and turn North on to it and got up to speed with the i pod on pushing out the tunes. Ride was feeling good,no issues to speak of and I found my self going along the Hwy at a good clip until I saw this 2X4 at the last moment and road over it! Fortunate for me I was riding Rocky who is a 11 year old,all components (except for stem) replace Yes I mean everything down to the the BB (bottom bracket)Mountain bike turned into super commuter bike! Anyway I degrees the point that I am trying to make here is if it were not for the bike being built up the way it is plus my mtb bike skills, the situation could have been different.
I managed it OK and took the time to stop and go back to it and throw it out of harms way for the next soul on a bike who is looking at his or her computer or not concentration on the road because of his or her aches or pains.
I then reached Depot road feeling Good! Like real good to tackle anther section of the Hwy that went to Alice Lake exit, Thought about it and thought about how I had a ride later today with the local Mountain bike club known as SORCA (Squamish Off Road Cycling Association). And thought about it some more as I was feeling really good! Oh by the way did I mention the fact that I was feeling really good? Anyway common sense kicked in and I decided to forgo the exercise in riding up to Alice lake and started to head home (South)along the Hwy! Good thing I listened to the little voice in my head who said to me remember last time you did a road ride in the morning and then did a Tonnie Race later that day! Not good! I think I am still paying for it with my knees! Which brings me to this point.... I forgot the wind factor along the Hwy heading South! I made it home but my knees were barking!
I think I will take tomorrow off riding,do the Yoga, stretching and Physio and maybe go for a light rid around town and take in the sights. I have to be on my bike a lot these days as to De frag my brain. Oh yes I found this really cool website called "No Direction Known"

"Oh how long the road is...."
“Oh how long the road is.....
For how you have needed every second of every mile of it to learn what it pass’s by...

And how this beginning line has so much substance for me.
As the road that I drive on to and from work, in which I drive on a road for the work that I do as a bus driver, the road that I ride on when riding my commuter bike and the thoughts that I get from defragging my mind.
